Avis de décès de Edgar Charles Frederick check_circle

Loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Peterborough Region Health Centre, two days shy of his 87th birthday. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Patricia Frederick, his daughters Kim Frederick Reid (Gord) and Paula Frederick (Greg), his grandchildren Keith Reid (Deandra), Craig Reid, Elizabeth Gamsby (Ryan), Christopher Payne and Matthew Payne, great granddaughter Evie Gamsby, his brothers Gilbert, Harold (Joan) and Ralph (Reta), many close friends, and his loving kitty Holly. Predeceased by his twin sons Keith and Kevin, and son Christopher, sister Janet Blackburn (Noland) and parents Nora and Victor Frederick.

Born in the small northern Ontario town of Powassan, Ed moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University where he studied business and got his first co-op job with Jack Fraser. This was the start of a very successful 43 year career in the menswear business, which culminated in him owning his own stores called (Frederick’s for Men). Affectionately known as (Chief) by those he mentored in the business, Ed loved his work and was good at it. Transfers through work took him many places including Windsor (where he met the love of his life Pat), Sudbury, Calgary and Toronto. In retirement Ed lived in Bobcaygeon and most recently Peterborough. Ed, along with Pat, made many close and lasting friendships everywhere they lived. It was hard not to love Ed’s caring and warm personality and especially his corny sense of humor. Above all, he was a family man. He liked nothing better than sharing time with his wife and children and then grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.

Special thanks to the staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for the care they provided Ed and to the many family and friends that provided support. A celebration of life will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2:00pm. Visitation one hour prior and reception to follow. If desired, donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated.
